Tibetan Cultural Institute of Arkansas Board of Directors
We are currently assembling our Board of Directors. Until this process is finalized,
and our non-profit organization approved, Geshe Dorjee
and Professor Sidney Burris
will serve as the Institute's Co-Directors. Contact information and brief bio's follow.
Born in 1959, Geshe Dorjee escaped from Tibet several years later and
spent the early years of his life in a refugee camp in Bhutan. Entering
Drepung Loseling monastery as a young teenager, Geshe began his study of
Buddhist philosophy, leading to the Geshe Lharampa degree in 1994 from the
Drepung Monastic University and the Ngagrampa degree from the Gyuto Tantric
University in 2005. These are two of the highest academic degrees awarded in
Buddhist studies. He has been teaching at various American schools for ten years.
