Geshe Thupten Dorjee

Geshe Thupten Dorjee

Born in 1959, Geshe Dorjee escaped from Tibet several years later and spent the early years of his life in a refugee camp in Bhutan. Entering Drepung Loseling monastery as a young teenager, Geshe began his study of Buddhist philosophy, leading to the Geshe Lharampa degree in 1994 from the Drepung Monastic University and the Ngagrampa degree from the Gyuto Tantric University in 2005. These are two of the highest academic degrees awarded in Buddhist studies. He has been teaching at various American schools for ten years.
